Since 1989, Stone Forest has created unparalleled hand-carved granite sculptures that combine the elegant simplicity of Japanese tradition and contemporary design. We create all of our own sculpture and fountains, ranging from traditional Japanese stone lanterns to monolithic contemporary fountains for commercial and public spaces.
The integrity of granite gives Stone Forest carvings a radiant mass or presence not realized using man-made materials such as cement or cast stone. Since each piece is hand carved using hammer and chisel, the individual character of the rock as well as the inspiration of the stone cutter lend each sculpture a unique quality.
Over the last 20 years, our sculptures have enjoyed a passionate response in residential and commercial sites nationwide. They are exhibited in public gardens and specified for projects from New York to Japan.

OUR QUALITY
Stone Forest is a collection of award winning designers and craftsmen (oh yeah, and we have a bookkeeper). Our specialty and our passion is stone and has been for 20 years!
We control the production and quality of all our original designs as well as traditional Japanese stone basins, lanterns and fountains from start to finish, insuring that our work is the finest available. Most other companies offering products such as Japanese lanterns and stone basins on the internet buy from importers and never actually touch the product; they simply take your order and pass it on to the importer for shipping.

OUR STONE
A Stone Forest lantern, basin, fountain or garden ornament is carved from blocks of natural stone. Each stone sculpture will reflect the individual character of the block from which it was carved. Since much of the carving is done by hand, the inspiration of each artist can be seen in each piece of Stone Forest sculpture, each will be unique.
We use the finest granites and basalts available to create our fountains and garden sculptures. These stones are very dense and thus highly durable, lasting for generations.
Each of our standard Japanese lantern, basin, fountain and ornament designs are stocked in a particular granite, including beige, black & white (salt & pepper), blue-gray, black and rose granites. You can also custom order a design in a stone other than the stock choice if desired, but there will be a longer lead time and an upcharge for custom work.

DRILLING
JAPANESE STONE LANTERNS: Most of our stone lanterns have pre-drilled holes so that you can add electrical fixtures to them at any time. Our Kotoji style lanterns and our Rankei style stone lanterns are not drilled.
JAPANESE STONE BASINS: Any of our garden basins can be drilled for use as a fountain, or you can set them up with a bamboo water spout to re-circulate in your garden.
FOUNTAINS are pre-drilled for water lines.
Basalt Column Fountains, Triple Basalt Fountains and Diamond Fountains include dowel holes in the bottom in case you wish to permanently dowel them into concrete pads for added stability.

SHIPPING & PRICES
Because we want to offer the lowest possible prices on shipping, we don't use flat rates or offer an amount based on the order price. Our rates are figured on total weight and delivery address.
As the largest independent shipper in New Mexico, we've negotiated low rates that include services typically charged out as extras by other companies.
These include lift-gate deliveries at no extra charge
and residential deliveries are no extra charge.
